Motherland
I believe there are worlds that lie in our unconscious that drive many of the things we do and how we live our lives. Recent conversations about family and culture, and research into my genealogical roots uncovered things that I didn’t know, but looking back in context I find myself saying, Of course.
Through a multitude of minute revelations, I unearthed a history while my artwork grew to tell the story. The cast sculpture of three generations along with an island of ancestor homes tells a story about family, lost secrets, and maybe even about destiny. It’s all part of something bigger than I.
